Flight attendants at Jazz Aviation, which operates regional flights under the Air Canada Express brand, have voted 99% in favour of a strike mandate, according to the Canadian Flight Attendant Union, which represents more than 1,000 of the airline's cabin crew. The workers have been without a contract since January 1, 2026, and the union says the vote came after months of bargaining that failed to produce a deal. Union president Marsha Walters said the vote reflects members' wish to be "fairly compensated for the work they do." A strike mandate authorises the union to call a strike if talks continue to stall, though it does not set a specific date, and Canadian labour law requires advance notice before any action can begin. Jazz Aviation, a Halifax-based carrier owned by Chorus Aviation, had not issued a public response to questions about the vote at the time of reporting.
Over 1,000 flight attendants at the Air Canada Express regional carrier have authorised a strike after nearly nine months without a contract. The Canadian Flight Attendant Union says the vote reflects demand for fairer pay; Chorus Aviation-owned Jazz has not yet responded publicly.
